Frequently Asked Questions

What is line marking?

Road marking / line marking is basically the application of paint or a special material on road surfaces, pavements, concrete or asphalt to communicate important information to motorists and pedestrians.

What is road marking paint made of?

The majority of line marking work is carried out with thermoplastic material, which consists of synthetic resins and premix glass beads.
Some other materials that can be used: Methyl Methacrylate (MMA), epoxy paint, water-based paint, acrylic based paint and chlorinated rubber paint.

Can you apply line markings in bad weather (rain/snow)?

Road markings should not be applied in the rain or while it's snowing.
The materials will fail to bond with the surface in the wet, which defeats the object of applying them in the first place.

Does it take long for line markings to dry?

Thermoplastic markings will take less than 10 minutes to sufficiently dry. MMA cold plastic is also quick setting, while water-based and other road marking paints will take longer.

How long do line markings last?

Depending on the traffic and the paint’s quality, painted markings will last an average of two years, but thermoplastic stripes and markings can last more than eight years.

We can provide line marking services in multiple areas such as: Manchester, Stockport, Oldham, Bolton, Warrington, Sheffield, Blackburn, Preston, Leeds, Liverpool, Stoke-On-Trent, Chester and more.
